The jewelry is made by a small company run by a mother and daughter in Kathmandu, who share the same dream as us: to create fair and just jobs through business activities and thus lift women out of generations of poverty. Anjila and Indu are the pillars of their community who help families in the area by making sure their children get to school and helping young people in the area get ahead in life through jobs or study places.
One of Kaiko's biggest dreams and goals is to promote women's education and employment in the world's poorest regions. After merging with Store of Hope, we have taken another significant step forward. Eeva and Anna from Store of Hope managed to create sustainable jobs in Nepal during their more than seven years of travel. Last fall, during a joint trip to Nepal between Kaiko and Store of Hope, the plan to unite was born and we decided to continue changing the fashion world together. This is how our first jewelry collection - Empowering earrings - began.
After the coronavirus closed Nepal for months, the country's situation has changed from a crisis to a humanitarian disaster. In Nepal, the power of change that every fair woman's job creates in the local community is extremely significant. Kaiko's role is to connect our aware customers with skilled craftsmen, because every purchase is a choice that we can make an impact on and bring about positive change.
