Kaikon's Soft Love cashmere collection is being completed and continues the responsibility work in Nepal
"Kaiko's role is to connect our aware customers with skilled craftsmen, because every purchase is a choice that we can use to influence and bring about positive change."
Our customers often ask us how we ended up expanding our production to Nepal. In a country like Nepal, in a very vulnerable position, even grassroots work can have significant effects. Although Nepal is one of the poorest countries in the world, its 123 ethnic groups and their rich traditions in crafts, architecture and art have created a unique atmosphere in the country.
25% of Nepal's population lives below the poverty line, and the country has no jobs that can withstand ethical scrutiny. The corona pandemic has further worsened Nepal's situation in many ways. There is a high risk of becoming a victim of exploitation or human trafficking in Nepal, and it is estimated that more than 50 girls are trafficked to India every day.
With the merger of Kaiko and Store of Hope, the production that started in Nepal has been able to expand and continue the development of production with the already established partners.
Kaiko's dream-soft cashmere collection is completed with a particularly current cardigan, a much-desired elegant black cardigan, and scarves and scarves get new shades: in addition to the classics, there is now also a bright orange-red, gentle lavender and deep, dark plum.
Kaiko's promise - Fashion with a mission - becomes especially true with these products. The manufacturing of the products fairly and sustainably employs women from Kathmandu. By choosing Kaiko, you are doing good and being part of the change. In addition to the employment effect, 7% of the profit of each product sold is directed to educating women in Nepal.
The Kaiko AW21 Soft Love cashmere collection will be launched in Kaiko's online store and Shop & Showroom as well as at our retailers on 15 October 2021 at 12:00.
